On Twitter, you could suddenly read about the injury of the alderman. That made Kim think. Can people get that kind of information from me?
In our gym, we have the most varied clients. From bodybuilders to yoga students and from cardio fanatics to people who are recovering from injuries. We know quite accurately how fit our clients are, what injuries they have and where they live. But that information has to stay private.
The local newspaper's twitter account mentioned the nature of the alderman's injury.
The alderman in our municipality is recovering from an injury that has long been bothering him. But the exact medical problem is not public. At least until the local newspaper twittered that information.
Local politicians, and in particular the alderman, want answers and know where the information originates.
I immediately checked whether the alderman is training with us. Fortunately, that was not the case. However, here we have other well-known and lesser-known people who all trust that their information is safe. I dare not imagine a tweet contains information from our systems.
Consulting our internet provider and system administrator to see if they can prevent a digital break-in.
We asked our internet provider, but also our system administrator who built our IT, if they could provide certainty that our systems cannot be broken into. They suggested installing a virus scanner and a firewall, but we don't think that's enough, because it's rather unclear how effective they are.
