That was frightening! Stefan received an e-mail with an amount he would have to pay to be able to manage his climate system again.
“Without ICT systems, our company is literally rudderless. Each day, we control the climate in our greenhouses using advanced climate computers. And that's a very delicate process. It is very terrifying when you notice that someone can take over your systems and that they do so without you noticing.”
The computer was functioning normally, but we still saw changes in the crop.
We saw the quality of our flowers gradually deteriorate. But we couldn't quite figure out why. What was it all about? The computer also simply indicated the correct values for temperature and humidity.
We started to doubt our ICT systems more and more.
When we didn't see the cultivation improve, we took a look at our system. Resetting didn't help. No matter what we tried, the information on our screen showed normal values. Different from those from the greenhouses.
Then, all of a sudden, we received a very shocking notification.
At one point, we wanted to change something, which didn't work. Immediately afterwards we received an e-mail with the message that we could only work with our computers again without any problems if we would pay a ransom. Completely unexpected, we had become the victim of ransomware.
Because of this breach in our business operations, we contacted MMOX.
