From a software company, you’d expect cybersecurity to be well taken care of. Still, an objective external perspective can be valuable. Take Thinkwise, for example: officially certified in information security, yet they still brought MMOX on board. Thinkwise is the inventor of model-driven development platforms. ‘I’d say we already had our cybersecurity well in order before we started working with MMOX. We are a mature company, have extensive in-house expertise, and are ISO-certified for information security. But there is always room for improvement. What we were still looking for was a partner we could fall back on in case something did go wrong. In other words, we wanted to insure our cybersecurity risks. We found that first line of defense with MMOX.’

Thinking two steps ahead

‘Before selecting a cybersecurity partner, we spoke with multiple companies. But our Chief Technology Officer quickly recognized that MMOX truly adds value. So, the decision to work with them was made quite easily. Thanks to MMOX, we now have external monitoring of incoming data traffic. Think of it as an additional layer around our existing cybersecurity, providing us with proactive alerts if something unusual occurs. You have to stay ahead of these things.’

Identifying weak spots

‘When we started working with MMOX, we immediately involved multiple people within our organization. We didn’t even need to create buy-in first, as online security was already a top priority at Thinkwise. MMOX introduced us to their DKI method—Threats, Vulnerabilities, and Impact. In other words: what is our cyber risk profile? Together, we assessed where Thinkwise stands. Scoring well on this was already a win for us.’

An objective perspective

‘Even though we already had a strong setup, bringing in an external expert was still a great move. Especially because we want to be NIS2-compliant. This allows us to demonstrate to both ourselves and our clients that our information security is in top shape. Having an independent party involved is invaluable, as they bring a more objective view to discussions about risk.’
